Since I mentioned him in the dumb shitpost art post… This is Jasper, he’s a ~3mo old cinnamon blue Indian ringneck who has made short work of all his (intentionally destructible) toys. I knew he was gonna wreck them, I just didn’t expect him to go through them all so quickly… he’s only been home a few weeks!

These little cuties will pick up words once they’re a bit older, and once he’s a little more open to any sort of training and wearing a flight suit/harness (he’s going through his bluffing phase, where he acts like he hates everything and wants to murder people’s hands), he’ll have a lot more freedom to go on ADVENTURES.

wow yes I do still exist I guess, just been busy and distracted with a zillion other things (I have PET BIRD now, he is cute and named Jasper and is currently a total brat but I love him anyway).

So… at some point earlier this year, I restarted this little thing. I kept having too much trouble with keeping the winglets shaped correctly and not collapsing. This time I made a silicone putty mold from a cardboard pattern (made using one of the vinyl collectables) and felted 8 new winglets from that, so they’re wool all the way through. … they’re still really difficult to keep in proper shape, as every time I work with this particular core wool, it takes numerous tries to get it to firm up and not become a useless pile of mush. Sigh. The pile of failed attempts at a base form for whatever I was trying to make because it just didn’t stay firm is unreal. The core here is still made over a styrofoam ball, so that’s at least sturdy.

Really I should just not be trying to do precise geometric shapes with friggin’ needle felting but I’m dumb and stubborn and the gingerbread shell is just so cute

Hopefully I can have this one done by Dawning this time so I can actually post it to Bungie’s art thing…

WIP (yes, still), Confectionery Shell from Destiny 2

okay look needle felting takes a really long time and I am an absolutely hopeless perfectionist

I ended up taking apart the segments in order to make them look like proper separate pieces, trying to sculpt in a seam just wasn’t working. Felting all eight pieces together has not worked out terribly well, so the front pieces are felted to the matching back piece while the front/back rings are sewn (partly, the bottom and right pieces are just pinned while I work on the icing).

The little triangles are for the points of top/bottom pieces, in various states of completion. Ended up using the magic eraser stuff again to keep the shape better. The little red candies will probably be the last thing I do, and I’m not sure if I want to do the candy striping on the Ghost itself.

Actually some of these turned out REALLY good. The Red/Green sprites look so bizarre though. Need to be more consistent on my shading, I’m pretty sure I switch between following the original and the gen 5 style.
